Reactivity Training Programme
Transform Chaos into Calm - Beyond The Bark
What is Reactivity?
Reactivity in dogs is an over-the-top emotional response to specific triggers - other dogs, people, bikes or vehicles. It often manifests as barking, lunging, growling or intense pulling on the lead. While it can look aggressive, reactivity is usually rooted in fear, frustration or overwhelming excitement rather than true aggression.
Our 5-week programme uses desensitisation and counter-conditioning techniques to help your dog build confidence, learn alternative behaviours and develop calm responses to their triggers. This is not a quick fix - it's a structured behaviour modification programme that addresses the emotional root of reactivity.
Important: Small class sizes (maximum 5 dogs) ensure personalised attention and a controlled learning environment, allowing us to work safely at each dog's threshold level.
What's Included
5 Weekly Controlled Sessions
Progressive weekly training sessions in a safe, controlled environment. Each session builds on the last, gradually increasing challenge and confidence.
Behaviour Questionnaire
Pre-programme questionnaire to help us understand your dog's specific triggers, history and reactivity patterns for tailored training.
Very Small Classes (Max 5 Dogs)
Ultra-small class sizes ensure safety, individual attention and the ability to work at each dog's threshold level without overwhelming them.
Safe, Controlled Environment
Training takes place in carefully managed spaces with appropriate distances between dogs. Safety protocols in place at all times.
Reactivity Management Guide
Comprehensive digital guide covering body language, trigger tracking, threshold management, counter-conditioning protocols and long-term strategies.
Daily Support via Messaging
Access to your trainer between sessions for questions, troubleshooting and progress check-ins. You're not alone in this journey.

What to Bring
Flat Collar or Harness
Well-fitted flat collar or back-clip harness of your choice.
1.8m Standard Lead
A standard 1.8m lead (NO retractable leads). Retractable leads prevent proper control and can be dangerous in reactive dog training.
High-Value Rewards
Whatever motivates your dog most - high-value treats (chicken, cheese, frankfurter) or favourite toys. Must be irresistible for counter-conditioning work.
Mat or Towel (Optional)
If your dog settles well on a mat or towel, bring one familiar to them. We'll have training mats available if needed.
Water Bowl
Collapsible water bowl and fresh water. Hydration is important during training sessions, especially in warmer months.
Comfortable Clothing
Wear comfortable clothes suitable for outdoor training and all weather conditions. Layered clothing and closed-toe shoes recommended.
Safety & Prerequisites
Important Safety Information
No bite history towards humans: For safety reasons, dogs with a history of biting people cannot be accepted into group classes. Private training may be recommended instead.
Dog-dog reactivity acceptable: This programme is designed for dogs reactive to other dogs, people, bikes or vehicles. We work at safe distances with careful management.
Handler must be physically able: You must be able to safely control your dog on lead at all times. If your dog is too strong for you to hold, we may recommend private sessions first.
Commitment to homework essential: This programme requires daily homework practice (10-15 minutes). Without consistent practice between sessions, progress will be limited.
Early-stage reactivity only: This group programme is suitable for early to moderate reactivity. Severe cases, dogs with bite history or extreme aggression require private 1-on-1 training.
