Takapuna is one of the busiest spots on the Shore for dog owners, and that is exactly what makes it a brilliant place to train. Between the beach, Lake Pupuke and the cafés along Hurstmere Road, your dog is surrounded by distractions every single day. I train your dog to stay calm and switched on around all of it, not just in the quiet of your lounge.
The beach is the big one here. Takapuna Beach is off-leash before 10am and after 5pm through winter, and from 2pm in summer (the summer rules run 1 December to 1 March), with on-leash hours through the middle of the day. That early-morning off-leash window is gold for recall work before the crowds and other dogs arrive, and it is where I do a lot of my best sessions with Takapuna dogs.
I come to your Takapuna home so your dog learns where they actually live, then we take the training out to the beach, the Lake Pupuke walkway and the spots you visit every week. Real world training in the real world, so the results hold up when it counts.

Common Questions
Takapuna Beach is off-leash before 10am and after 5pm in winter, and before 10am or after 2pm in summer (summer rules run 1 December to 1 March). Through the middle of the day it is on-leash. I build a lot of recall training around that early-morning off-leash window before the beach gets busy.
Yes, café manners are one of the most common things Takapuna owners ask me for. I teach your dog to settle calmly under the table on Hurstmere Road, ignore passing dogs and people and wait quietly while you have your coffee.
Absolutely. The ducks, joggers and cyclists around Lake Pupuke set a lot of dogs off. I work on loose-lead walking and calm, neutral behaviour around those triggers so the walkway becomes enjoyable again instead of a battle.
Yes. Every session starts with in-home training so your dog learns in the environment they live in, then we take it out to the beach, the lake and the streets you walk every day for reliability where it actually matters.
