Manurewa is one of Auckland's biggest suburbs and it throws a lot at a dog. You've got the busy town centre around Southmall, the train and bus traffic, weekend markets and packed sports fields, and then on the edges you've got proper bush at Totara Park and the harbour foreshore out at Weymouth. That mix is exactly why I love training dogs here. Your dog learns to settle and listen in the real world, not just in the quiet of your lounge.
The challenges I see most in Manurewa come down to space and busyness. A lot of the newer townhouses and units have small sections, so dogs don't burn much energy at home and arrive at the park wound up. Then you've got Totara Park, where horses share the bridle trails and mountain bikes come flying past, and Te Pua / Keith Park out at Weymouth, where the foreshore and boat ramps pull every nose to the ground. I train your dog to hold a solid recall and a calm loose-lead walk around all of it, using balanced methods that give clear yes and no so your dog actually knows where it stands. We work the early-morning window at Weymouth too, since the coastal park is off-leash all day in winter but closed to off-leash between 10am and 5pm over summer.
I start in your home, because that's where most of the real habits live. We sort the door manners, the lead pulling, the jumping and the general listening first, on familiar ground where your dog can think clearly. Once that foundation is solid I take the training on location to the spots you actually use, whether that's the off-leash flats at Mountfort Park, the bush tracks at Totara Park or the foreshore at Weymouth. Everything is tailored to your dog and your routine, so you finish with a dog you can take anywhere in Manurewa and trust.

Train Where You Walk
We train your dog at the actual locations you walk them. Real world training for real world reliability.
A huge 216-hectare park with native bush tracks and bridle trails, off-leash at all times across the general areas, which makes it the ideal place to build a recall that holds even when horses and mountain bikes go past.
Off-leash at all times in the general park areas with a flat 1.7km paved path and big open fields, perfect for loose-lead walking and steady distance work around joggers, sports crowds and other dogs.
A coastal park on the Manukau Harbour that is off-leash all day in winter but off-leash only before 10am and after 5pm in summer, so I build a lot of recall and 'leave it' training around the foreshore and boat ramps in that early window.
Plus all local reserves, walkways and neighbourhood streets in Manurewa and surrounding areas.

Common Questions
Yes, the general park areas at Totara Park are off-leash at all times. Dogs need to be on-leash on the walking tracks, in the car park, in picnic areas and near the sports surfaces, and they're not allowed on the playgrounds or sports surfaces at all. With horses on the bridle trails and bikes on the tracks, it's a brilliant proving ground for a reliable recall, so I do a lot of off-leash work out there once your dog's foundation is solid.
Te Pua / Keith Park out at Weymouth is off-leash across the park areas all day in winter, but in summer it's off-leash only before 10am and after 5pm, with dogs prohibited between 10am and 5pm. The foreshore and boat ramps make it a high-distraction spot, so I'll often train your dog there in the early morning when it's quieter and the off-leash rules allow it.
Yes. I start with in-home sessions wherever you are in Manurewa, from the family homes around the town centre to the newer townhouses and units. We sort the day-to-day habits like door manners, lead pulling and listening on familiar ground first, then I take the training out to local spots like Mountfort Park or Totara Park once your dog's ready for real-world distractions.
Every programme is tailored to your dog and what you're dealing with, whether that's a wound-up pup in a small townhouse section or an older dog that pulls on the lead around the town centre. The best way to get an accurate idea is to have a look at the pricing page or book a consult, and I'll map out exactly what your dog needs.
